Digital vs Electronic Signatures — What You Need to Know

There are two types: Electronic signatures (a visual signature image embedded in the PDF — what our tool creates) and Digital signatures (cryptographically verified signatures like Adobe Sign or DocuSign that are legally binding). Is an electronic signature on PDF legally valid in India? ▼
Under the IT Act 2000, electronic signatures created using a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) are legally valid in India. A simple drawn signature (like our tool creates) is a visual electronic signature — it is acceptable for many business documents but may not satisfy all legal requirements. For legally binding contracts, use a DSC or Aadhaar-based e-sign.
How to add initials to each page of a PDF? ▼
Currently our tool adds a single signature on one specified page. To add initials to multiple pages, use the tool multiple times — one per page with that specific page selected.
What is the difference between digital signature and electronic signature? ▼
Electronic signature: any electronic mark representing intent to sign (drawn signature, typed name, checkbox). Digital signature: uses public-key cryptography to verify identity and document integrity — it is tamper-evident. DSC-based digital signatures are required for company filings, GST returns and government contracts in India.
How to create a transparent signature for PDF? ▼
