Convert Between GST-Inclusive and GST-Exclusive Prices

In business, you frequently need to work backwards from a GST-inclusive total to find the base price (reverse GST calculation) or add GST to a base price for invoicing. Bulk GST conversion is needed when updating price lists or comparing multiple supplier quotes. Our GST Converter does both single and bulk conversions across all 5 GST slabs instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to remove GST from a GST-inclusive price?
Base Price = Inclusive Price ÷ (1 + GST Rate/100). For 18% GST: Base = Price ÷ 1.18. Example: ₹11,800 inclusive → ₹11,800 ÷ 1.18 = ₹10,000 base + ₹1,800 GST. Our converter does this automatically in the "Remove GST" mode.
How to convert a price list from exclusive to inclusive GST?
Use the Bulk Converter — paste all prices (one per line), select your GST rate and choose "Add GST" direction. All prices are converted at once with the GST amount shown alongside. Download or copy the results.
What is the reverse GST formula?
Reverse GST (extracting GST from inclusive price): GST Amount = Inclusive Price × GST Rate ÷ (100 + GST Rate). Example for 18%: GST = ₹11,800 × 18 ÷ 118 = ₹1,800. Base Price = ₹11,800 − ₹1,800 = ₹10,000.
Why are some restaurant bills showing 5% and others 18% GST?
Restaurants without air conditioning and not in starred hotels charge 5% GST (no ITC). Air-conditioned restaurants and hotels with tariff above ₹7,500/day charge 18% GST (with ITC). Fine-dining restaurants in 5-star hotels were previously 28% but are now 18%.
