How to Calculate Real Savings and Avoid Discount Traps

Discount percentages can be misleading — a 50% discount sounds like a great deal, but if the original price was artificially inflated, the real saving is much less. Our discount calculator helps you verify actual savings, find the original price from a discounted price (to check if MRP was inflated) and calculate what percentage discount you're actually getting. Use it while shopping online to make informed buying decisions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to calculate discount percentage in India?
Discount % = ((MRP − Sale Price) ÷ MRP) × 100. Example: MRP ₹2,000, Sale Price ₹1,600 → Discount = ((2000−1600)÷2000)×100 = 20%. Our calculator gives this instantly.
What is 30% off on ₹1500?
30% of ₹1,500 = ₹450 discount. Final price = ₹1,500 − ₹450 = ₹1,050. Use our discount calculator by entering ₹1,500 as original price and 30% as discount.
How to find original price after 25% discount?
Original Price = Discounted Price ÷ (1 − 0.25) = Discounted Price ÷ 0.75. Example: If the sale price is ₹750 after 25% off → Original = ₹750 ÷ 0.75 = ₹1,000.
How do flat discount and percentage discount differ?
Flat discount is a fixed rupee amount off (₹200 off). Percentage discount is a proportion of the price (20% off). For high-priced items, percentage discount saves more. For low-priced items, flat discounts can be more than percentage discounts.
